Celebrate PIMA's 50-Year History and Envision the Next 50 Years in Affinity

June 2-5, 2025 | Kansas City, MO

The Next 50 Years of Affinity Starts Here

PIMA was founded in March of 1975 in Kansas City, Mo. In 2025, as we celebrate a major PIMA milestone, we are honored to return to our roots — we're hosting our 2025 Summer Insights Conference and 50th Celebration, June 2-5, in Kansas City, Mo.

Join us in the heartland of America to see where PIMA began and enjoy the attractions Kansas City has to offer today, including parks, cultural sites, and barbeque spots. There's no shortage of things to do and see in this city, from CPKC Stadium (the world’s first stadium purpose-built for a women’s professional sports team), to the Rock Island Bridge (a historic railroad bridge turned entertainment district), to the American Jazz Museum, and more.

Summer Insights will be the premiere event to expand your expertise in the affinity market through educational sessions and networking with thought leaders and decision-makers from top insurance companies, agencies, and program administrators. Don't miss the chance to learn more about where PIMA's illustrious past, and how we're taking the affinity industry forward in the future.

2024 PIMA Cares Charity: Wednesday’s Child

We'll be hosting our PIMA Cares charitable initiative during the 2024 Summer Insights Conference. This year, the PIMA Cares task force chose to collaborate with Louisville-based Wednesday’s Child to support a cause that is near and dear to our hearts.

Wednesday’s Child, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, whose mission is to facilitate the recruitment of quality foster and adoptive parents, to provide support for children and families in Kentucky’s child welfare system, and to connect children waiting on a forever family with educated and trained adoptive parents.

Our on-site volunteer efforts will include preparing duffle bags with supplies desperately needed by children in the foster care system.

Frequently asked questions.

Affinity refers to the B-B-C model that allows product providers to partner with intermediary organizations to reach their customers.

The Affinity Market refers to a business strategy where specialized products or services are offered to a targeted group of consumers who share common interests, characteristics, or other affiliations.

The affinity market is made up of insurance providers, insurance brokers, and the firms that provide services to those firms. It also includes the customer (the C in B-B-C), which includes employers and their employees, professional associations and their members, banks and their customers, and any number of other consumer or business groups with affiliated members.

Establishing partnerships using an affinity model affords a company the opportunity to develop products, services, and often pricing specific to individual groups of consumers. In turn, the consumer group is more responsive to the products or services, often due to more relevant offerings, to more economical solutions and to learning from a trusted and existing relationship.
